Classical dancers

Feel the grandeur and richness of Indian classical dance and music at Nishagandhi festival held in Kerala organised by Kerala Tourism Department. The various classical danceforms of India Kathakali, Odissi, Bhathanatyam, Mohiniatttam, Kathak, Sattriya, Manipuri and Kuchipudi will be performed by expert dancers. There is no entry fees. The venue for this annual dance festival is Kanakakkunnu Palace grounds in Thiruvananthapuram. In 2017 it is ingurated the Honorable Governor of Kerala.The programmes start at 6 in the evening by Kathakali performances. The various other dances are scheduled to start from 6:30 pm.
The event is inaugurated by the Governor of Kerala and will held through the week. Famous dancer Bharathi Shivaji is specially honoured this year. In the nearby Sooryakanthi Fair Ground, there will be craft exhibition which displays handicrafts belonging to kerala . You can also enjoy cuisines of India as there will be food stalls set up cookery experts.

The Star dancers who will dance at the event are the following :Odissi performances will be by dancers Aruna Mohanthi,Sujatha Mohapatra and team. Bharathanatyam dancers who will perform are Sanjana Arun, Padmasri Geetha Chandran, Padmasri  Malavika Sarukai. Mohiniyattam will be by Neena Prasad, Mandakini Trivedi Kuchipudi performers are Srimayi Vembatty, Sonu S.K., Uma Murali. Kathak dancers will be Vida lal and Abhimanu lal, Mauliksha Ishra pareek and team, Sathriya by Dr Lima das, Manipuri by Padmasri Darshana Jhaveri and Group. Madhu Gopinath and Vakkom Sajeev will perform Samudranadanam. Kathakali will be perormed by the Masters and the stories are Subdhraharanam, Karna Saptham, Bali Vijayam, Duryodha Vadam, Nalacharitham, Kalakaya Vadham. In addition there will be performances by Kuthu and Koodiyattam artists.  So to enrich your evenings visit Nishagandhi.
