Practicing Love or compassion to every creature is the base of the religion Buddhism. It was founded by Buddha. Buddha is also known as Siddartha ,Gautama ,Shakyamuni. He was born at Kapilavastu in Nepal. His father was Shudhodhana chief of Shakya clan and mother Mayadevi. He married Yesodha, his cousin and had a son Rahula. Although he could live like a prince, he was deeply affected by the sorrows and sufferings of the people. So he left his palace seeking a remedy for all sorrows in the world. He meditated at Gaya for a long period. He got enlightment while sitting under a Peepal tree which is now known as Bodi tree.
His teachings tell us that this world the root cause of all suffering is desire. So killing your desire will help you attain happiness. You can kill desire by maintain a moral lifestyle, having a positive approach to everything, having good goals in life, Keeping a mind free of hatred, leading a simple life without greed, Speaking without hurting anyone, Your actions should be so refined that it should not cause pain to any living being. Following such a life will help you attain Ananda.
He said to follow his religion one need to be righteous. He should not kill anything, steal anything, and be clear in thoughts, action, and speech. Buddism advocates love, brotherhood, independence of all living things. The religion does not differentiate any individual because of caste, creed, class and gender. This is the reason why the religion has spread across the world. The main principle of Buddhism is ‘Ahimsa’ that says hurt no living creature was adopted by Mahatma Gandhi in his life and molded his character, his actions always strengthened by Ahimsa, helped him to bring Independence to India
